Chongming District is located at the midpoint of the coastline of China along the western Pacific rim and is an important crossroads of waterway traffic along the eastern coast of China. Nanheng Yinhe is the east-west main river of Chongming District, which is more than 80 kilometers long and available for vessels below 100 tons. Chenhai Road, with a total length of 66.827 km, runs through the entire Chongming District, and is connected to Shanghai Yangtze River Tunnel and Bridge and Chongqi Channel, which is an important traffic section for the outsiders to enter the Chongming District.
