Izmir is the third largest city in Turkey. The capital of izmir province, located on the Aegean coast at the western end of the Anatolia plateau, is one of the important industrial, commercial, foreign trade and shipping centers, as well as a famous historical and cultural city, tourist resort and military fort of Turkey.

The port of izmir is located on the western coast of Turkey, the southeast coast of izmir bay and the east side of the Aegean sea. It is the largest seaport in western Turkey, with major industries including machinery, oil refining, tire and shipbuilding.
