Potala Palace
Potala Palace is located on Maburi Mountain in the northwestern Lhasa and built by Songtsan Gampo in Tibetan Empire in order to marry Chizun Princess and Wencheng Princess.
Built near the mountain without overlapped buildings, Potala Palace is an outstanding representative of Tibetan ancient buildings. Meanwhile, scenery pattern at the back of the fifth set of renminbi 50 paper money is Potala Palace.
Lhasa Station
Located within Liuwu Town, Doilungdeqen County in the southwest of Lhasa, Lhasa Station is first-class passenger and cargo station and is directly subordinate to Qinghai-Tibet Railway Company.
Entering the central hall on the first floor of Lhasa station, you are placed in a traditional Tibetan palace while electronic display screen and escalator bring you back to the modern society. Lalu Wetland National Nature Reserve
Lalu Wetland National Nature Reserve is a globally rare and domestically largest urban wetland located at northwestern corner of Lhasa.
Humid weather here is rare on plateau. All kinds of wild birds like tadorna ferruginea, barhead goose, brown-head gull, lark and skylark. It’s the only urban inland natural wetland across China and praised as “large oxygen bar” in Lhasa.
Norbulingka
Located at western suburbs of Lhasa, Norbulingka is a place for Dalai Lama in the past dynasties to spend the summer and govern their kingdom. It is a typical Tibetan garden and called “Summer Place” of Lhasa.
Norbulingka is the largest scale garden with the best scenery and most historical sites among Tibetan artificial gardens. Platforms are built in high places and pools are dug in low places in the garden. It’s successful in scenery development. With fresh air and peaceful environment, it has simple and natural scenery peculiar to Tibetan gardens.
Jokhang Temple, Ramoche Temple and Lhasa River
Jokhang Temple
Jokhang Temple, a Tibetan Buddhist temple built by Tibetan king Songtsan Gampo, is located in old Lhasa city center.
Jokhang Temple has a over 1,300-year history. Owning a sovereign position in Tibetan Buddhism, it is the earliest civil engineering structures.
Ramoche Temple
Being 500m away from the north of Bakuo Street in Lhasa, Ramoche Temple is one of Lhasa places of interest and it combines Jokhang Temple to be called “Two major temples in Lhasa”, for which it is well known in the world.
Architectural style of Ramoche Temple has blended Han and Tibetan architectural features. Primary temple management was hosted by Han Buddhist monk, so it is a symbol of unity and friendship between the two nationalities.
Lhasa River
As a river in Tibet Autonomous Region in China originating from southern foot of Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, Lhasa River is mother river of Lhasa.
After unifying Tibetan tribes, Tibetan Emperor Songtsan Gampo moved the capital to Lhasa River valley, so Lhasa river basin gained development and gradually became political, economic, cultural, transportation and religious center on Tibet Plateau.
Lhasa Gongga International Airport
Lhasa Gongga International Airport is a civil airport in the southwestern Lhasa. With 3,569.5m altitude, it is one of civil airports with the largest altitudes in the world.
