【Remote Sensing Application】The investigation of Hunchun forest resources in Jilin province

This paper will take the forest resources survey in Hunchun city of Jilin province as an example to introduce the specific application of remote sensing in forest resources investigation.


Based on the remote sensing image of Hunchun, the spatial distribution of forestry and non-forest land in Hunchun is extracted. The forestry land area of 4367.59㎞², forestry land area of 1060.69㎞². Forest land includes coniferous forest, broad-leaved forest, shrubbery and bare land; the non-forestry land includes land for construction of urban and rural residents, arable land and land for water use.


The spatial distribution of forestry and non-forest land in Hunchun is clearly observed from the remote sensing thematic map. It can be seen that the forest resources in Hunchun are very rich, which is directly related to the topography, climate and social construction of Hunchun.

As can be seen from the left picture, Hunchun forest land occupies the majority of the land, and non-forestry land is mainly concentrated in the central and southern plain area, which is the place where human activities are concentrated.

From the right picture, the woodland in northern Hunchun is mainly shrub and broad-leaved forest. In the central region, the Hunchun River and the southern portion of the forest are mainly coniferous forests. The key factors for the distribution of different plants in different regions are topography and climate. The coniferous forests are mainly distributed in higher mountain areas, and the climate is colder. The shrub and broad-leaved forest are mainly distributed in low-lying areas such as the plain. There is also a small amount of bare ground scattered in the vast northern areas of Hunchun.
